Twinkie and Bad Honey bunny from Mercado Sin Nombre

IMG_3101.jpeg

What really makes this place unique is how they incorporate masa into many of their baked goods. My favorite item is easily the Chocolate Masa Twinkie. I also highly recommend the Bad Honey Bunny, which is their masa milk bun. Think of it like a cinnamon roll that's twisted into a spiral and topped with a delicious glaze.

Raspberry Ice Cream at Zed's Real Fruit Ice cream

IMG_5631.jpeg

Zeds Ice Cream often has a long line and originally comes from New Zealand. They have multiple brick and mortar locations in Austin. The process works by choosing your base and your fruit, which they blend to make your ice cream, and then you can add your choice of toppings.

I recommend trying the raspberry with dairy free vanilla, topped with toasted coconut and La Lechera.

Flambeverest Cheesecake 1618

If you're looking for an Instagram worthy dessert in Austin, TX, look no further than 1618. This restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites, and for good reason. One of the standout dishes is their flaming cheesecake, a decadent dessert that the server lights on fire with alcohol and cinnamon for an extra spark. It's the perfect choice for a special occasion.

Comadre Panaderia- Pan Dulce

Croissants from Sugar Wolf

IMG_1616.jpeg

Sugar Wolf Bake Shop is probably what I consider the best bakery in Austin right now. During my visits, though, I thought Sugar Wolf was making some of the best pastries in Austin. I really enjoyed all of their croissants, which were consistently flaky, buttery, and well laminated. I also think they make one of the best chocolate chip cookies in town.

Gallete de Rois from Nougatine Bake shop

IMG_2536.jpeg

Nougatine Bake Shop started as a pop up vendor and has since grown into a physical space at Austin Winery. The Galette des Rois is seasonal but one of the best desserts or tarts I've ever tried. Only available in January but the Buche De noel in the Christmas time is also very good!

Canje ATX - Tres Leches

Tres Leches at Canje

If you're a fan of tres leches, you absolutely must try this one, it's the best I've ever had! The roasted chocolate on top is reminiscent of snow and adds a delicious, rich flavor to the cake. The cake itself is soft and fluffy, and simply melts in your mouth. I was blown away when I first tried it and let out an audible gasp! This particular tres leches uses a combination of coconut, roasted white chocolate, and tangerine guava.

Mochi Donuts at OMG SQUEE

The ice cream here is made with coconut and avocado, giving it an incredibly creamy texture that's absolutely delicious. Check out their menu for all their flavors!

Some people loved the croissants, but I personally love their beignets and think that they're the best in town. They're on par with the ones in NOLA!

Bonjour Brigadeiro - Brigadeiros

The Rainbow Hill is a must-try dessert in Austin, especially during the summer. This colorful treat features mango sorbet, topped with chamoy, tajin, and wrapped in a rainbow candy stripe, finished off with fresh strawberries. Don't forget to pair it with a cup of elote for the ultimate experience.

Heavens Bistro Bakery - Croissants

Cake - Butter Days

__wf_reserved_inherit

I absolutely love the cake at Butter Days. You can order them through her in Instagram. She reminds me a lot of paper route bakery.

Gelato Paradiso - Gelato

In a Town devoid of Authentic Gelato, I finally found a spot worthy of being called some of the best Gelato I've ever had. I've been around to top Gelato spots in Boston and Vancouver and this is the closest. The pistachio is soft and creamy and not too sweet. I like how it's served no too icy like many spots around Austin! They also can be found at Baldinucci Pizza.

The below are some spots I wanted to include that are right outside of Austin but still delicious!

Round Rock Donuts - Donuts

Roundrock Donuts

Round Rock Donuts has the best donuts in the world, in my opinion. With locations in Cedar Park and Round Rock, it's worth the drive to get your hands on their signature yellow glaze and fluffy, sweet dough. I used to make the trip once a week just to indulge in their warm, fluffy donuts. If you're a fan of fluffy, warm donuts, you won't be disappointed with Round Rock Donuts.

Whipped Bakery - Cupcakes and Macarons

Cake from Whipped Bakery

Whipped is hands down the best Asian bakery in the greater Austin area. Located in Leander, their cakes and pastries are characterized by their lightness and delicate sweetness, which earns them the Asian thumbs up. Their macarons, filled with whipped cream, are divine, and their cupcakes are equally delightful. I highly recommend trying their desserts, which are not overly sweet. They also do custom cake orders for special occasions.

Little Mama's - Halo Halo
