Best Dog Friendly Restaurants in Austin, TX

This is my guide to the best dog friendly spots in Austin, Texas. While this guide is primarily focused on places where you can bring your dog, many of these spots are also great for families with young kids.

Let's be honest, during the Texas summer, it can be brutal trying to eat outside. That's why I wanted to focus on places that either allow dogs in air conditioned indoor spaces or have patios with misting fans that make dining outdoors much more comfortable.

Keep in mind that many restaurants in Austin cannot officially allow dogs indoors because of health regulations. However, the places on this list are either dog friendly indoor spaces, shared venues where dogs are commonly welcomed, or outdoor spots that stay cool enough to comfortably enjoy a meal with your pup.

Sour Duck

Sour Duck is known for making everything from scratch They also have surprisingly good salads and an excellent chocolate soft serve. We love their burger here and they have great happy hour deals. Plus pastries! Overall, it is a very consistent spot. Their seating is mainly covered patio seating with fans which makes it perfect for bringing your dog!

Moonshine Patio and Bar

Not the best photo but the brunch buffet at Moonshines.

Moonshine's serves southwestern cuisine and they have extensive patio seating that is covered and enclosed if you're worried about the heat. They allow dogs to eat in these spaces! I like their ribs and the Macaroni here!
Moonshine's Sunday brunch buffet is an iconic experience that runs from 9 am to 2 pm every Sunday at their downtown location. While it's been a while since my last visit, they serve delicious Southwestern style food. I highly recommend trying their hot chocolate as well! Homeslice Pizza

Although I don’t think their pizza is life changing, their NYC pizza in Austin is decent and their patio is dog friendly! Their Italian sub is absolutely worth checking out when visiting Austin. It’s unlike any other Italian sub I’ve had, packed with meat, crisp lettuce, and served on warm, crusty bread that ties it all together. Great spot for a puppy date and their patio is covered with fans.

Pins Mechanical

Pins Mechanical is one of my favorite dog friendly spots in Austin because the entire establishment, including the indoor space, welcomes dogs.

They also have some great food options on site, including JewBoy Sliders, and you're welcome to bring your food inside while you hang out. Beyond the food, there are plenty of free games, bowling, drinks, and lots of space to spend a few hours with friends.

If you're looking for a fun place to bring your dog, especially during the hot Texas summer, Pins Mechanical is a great option since you can stay indoors while still enjoying the atmosphere.

Ant's Beer Cave

This is a great dog friendly option because they have extensive indoor and outdoor seating, making it a perfect place to escape the Texas heat while still bringing your dog along.

They also have a couple of great food trucks on site, including Pizza Den, and pickleball courts if you're looking for something to do. I also really enjoy the pizza served here, and Knuckle Sandwich is another great option nearby.

One of the best parts is that this area is walkable to several other dog friendly breweries and hangout spots, so it's easy to spend an afternoon exploring with your pup.

If you're looking for a fun place to bring your dog, grab some food, play pickleball, and enjoy the summer, this is definitely one of my favorite spots in Austin.

JewBoy Burgers

JewBoy Burgers is another great dog friendly option. They have a small enclosed patio area where dogs are welcome, along with additional outdoor seating.

The burgers here are excellent and easily some of my favorites in Austin. They do have fans throughout the patio, but keep in mind that it can still get pretty hot during the summer. Thankfully, the enclosed covered patio provides a more comfortable space to enjoy your meal with your dog.

If you're looking for a casual spot with great burgers that welcomes dogs, JewBoy Burgers is definitely worth checking out.

Asados Taqueria

Asados Taqueria is another great option, especially during the summer. They're located next to several other food trucks and recently opened a small indoor dining area that's available during lunch hours.

At night, their patio is lined with misting fans, which makes a huge difference even when temperatures are over 100 degrees. Because of that, I think it's one of the better outdoor dining options for families with babies or young kids who still want to enjoy eating outside without being overwhelmed by the heat.

I highly recommend ordering the Crispy Steak Burrito Super Style, which is my favorite item on the menu. After your meal, you can also walk over to Kesshos Gelato for dessert, making it an easy stop for both dinner and a sweet treat.

Springdale General

Springdale General is one of my favorite dog friendly spots in Austin. It's a great place to spend an afternoon because there are multiple restaurants and food vendors all in one location, and I've seen plenty of people bring their dogs throughout the property.

Some of my favorite places to eat here are mam mam, Smalls Pizza, and Uroko There's also a Medici Coffee on site if you're just looking to grab a drink and relax. The Front page serving sandwiches and snacks is also dog friendly.

If you visit on a Sunday, be sure to check out the farmers market, which adds even more local vendors and makes it a fun weekend destination for both you and your dog.

Stargazer Bar

Stargazer Bar is another great dog friendly spot that I recommend checking out. One of the best parts is that dogs are welcome inside the air conditioned indoor space, making it a great place to escape the Texas heat.

It's located next to Bambino which sells pizza, and Stargazer also serves solid coffee and drinks. There are several other food options nearby as well, including Santo Patio and Handsome Dan's, which serves great sandwiches.

You can grab food from one of the nearby vendors, bring it into Stargazer Bar, and relax indoors with your dog, making it one of the best places to spend a hot afternoon in Austin.

Meanwhile Brewing

Meanwhile Brewing is another great spot to bring your dog. The brewery is very dog friendly, and your pup is welcome throughout most of the property.

One of the best parts about Meanwhile is the variety of food trucks on site. My personal favorite is Side Eye Pie, but they also have several other popular options, including Distant Relatives and Bésame.

It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, and you'll see lots of families, dogs, and groups hanging out together. Parking can also be a bit challenging during peak hours, but it's worth it.
