Best Happy Hours in Austin, TX

Best Happy Hours in Austin, TX

This is my comprehensive guide to where I find the best happy hours in Austin, Texas. Because I do not drink, this list is focused mainly on the best food options during happy hour.

Uchiko

Uchiko offers a happy hour daily from 4-6 pm. The reason people love this one so much is because the menu is very extensive.

They offer a happy hour omakase with nine courses for two people for 120 dollars. They also have a great selection of hot and cold tastings. My personal favorites are the bincho nigiri and the toro gunkan. I also like their selection of hand rolls, and my favorites are the hamachi and the maguro.

Another must order is the Hama chili, which is included on the happy hour menu. Even if you do not go during happy hour, it is still worth trying. I also enjoy their gyutoro skewers. This is their website.

Vic and Als

This next happy hour is at Vic and Al’s. They offer happy hour from Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 in the afternoon, which gives you a wide window to enjoy their food.

The menu rotates pretty often, so it is important to check ahead to see what is currently being offered. The happy hour is dine in only. When I went, I really enjoyed the gumbo, which was $6, the red beans and rice for $5, the corn dogs for $2.50 each, and the beignets for $4. This is their website.

Salty Sow

This next happy hour is so extensive that I would say you should only visit this spot during happy hour. A lot of other people seem to feel the same way because it gets pretty packed during that time. Salty Sow has been an Austin classic for years. It can go under the radar with so many new restaurants opening, but many people still see it as a classic and continue to come back.

Their happy hour runs every day from 4 to 6 p.m., and they offer a wide selection of food. Some of the items I recommend are the truffle deviled eggs for $8, the duck fat fries for $10, and the chicken liver mousse for $9, which is a generous portion. I also recommend the honey rosemary fried chicken for $13, which comes in large portions with biscuits.

We also tried the Ranger Cattle Wagyu cheeseburger for $20. I would not necessarily call it a steal, but it is still cheaper than ordering from their regular dinner menu. This is their website.

Bill's Oyster

Bill’s Oyster offers a happy hour daily from 3 to 5:30 p.m. I personally only go here for happy hour because they offer their signature Bill’s burger, which is my favorite burger made with a blend of short rib and brisket, for only $10. If you want to add french fries with your burger, it is an additional $5, compared to $21 for the full burger and fries from the dinner menu.

They also offer raw oysters for $3 each, clams micheladas for $7, crab and andouille hush puppies for $6, and tuna tartare for $12. For drinks, they have $2 off beers, $8 beers and shots, Tito's and Beefeater martinis for $10, and wines by the bottle for 50 percent off. This is their website.

Clark's Oyster Bar

Clark’s is another great spot for happy hour. They offer happy hour daily from 3 to 5 p.m. During this time, they have half-price burgers, 50 cents off oysters, $5 oyster shooters, and half off martinis. This is their website.

Garbos Happy Hour

Garbo’s Lobster is another spot to check out for happy hour. They offer two fried oyster rolls for $10, two fried lobster tacos for $10, mini caviar rolls for $20, hash browns with caviar for $16, and lobster mozzarella bites for $8. They also have their own Garbo’s Sunset wine coolers for $7 and their Garbo’s Xbox private labeled rosé for $10. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. This is their website. Please note that pictured is their lobster roll and not their happy hour items.

De Nada

De Nada is my favorite spot for crispy beef tacos. They offer happy hour from Monday through Friday, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Some of the items include chips and salsa for $1.50, chips and queso for $6.50, and their signature crispy beef tacos for $5.50 for two. They also have multiple quesadillas priced from $4.50 to $5.50 each. There are several drink options available as well. This is their website.

Sour Duck Market

Another great happy hour that happens daily from 3 to 6 p.m. is at Sour Duck Market. They make one of my favorite burgers, and although the burger is a little different during happy hour, it is still worth a visit. Single burgers are $6, double burgers are $9, and soft serve sundaes are $3. You have to try the chocolate one.

They also offer several drinks, including $6 Palomas, $4 pints of select lagers, and other options. This is their website.

Bufalina

Bufalina Pizza offers a happy hour daily from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Many people really like this happy hour because they offer half off select pizzas and half off bottles of wine under $100. They also have $2 off house wine and beer on tap. This happy hour is available at their Bufalina Do location as well. This is their website.
